Beyond Beginners Watercolour | Szczepan Urbanowicz
Szczepan’s (Stefan) BEYOND BEGINNERS watercolour workshop are intended to be a relaxing environment for students with a “solid basic grounding” in watercolour to come and immerse themselves in a total watercolour experience. This workshop aims to extend each student basic watercolour skills by using well understood watercolour techniques in “easy to follow”, step by step painting methods.
What will I learn?
This workshop will cover a broad range of watercolour basics, including;
• Extending your understanding of the key techniques of wet-on-wet & dry brush
• Developing your “painting plan” or by teaching you “strategies” to break down the painting process into a series of layers and elements
• Reinforcing your understanding of timing and gravity
• Extend your colour mixing with some basic colour theory
• Develop further your understanding of the importance of composition, tone, depth, focal point and light/shade
The weekend will be packed with numerous painting exercises culminating in the completion of a variety of paintings with emphasis placed on developing a “holistic” approach to the entire painting process. We will not overly concern ourselves with “detail” as much as we will concentrate on broader aspects of achieving consistent results with painting techniques, articulating our use of colour and broadly developing an appreciation for composition, focal point, light and shade.
Importantly – we want to make sure that painting watercolours is exciting, fun and rewarding. So please remember, watercolours are an amazing medium to use BUT will require from you over the weekend, patience, perseverance and above all – a lot of humour!
Class sizes are kept to a maximum of 12 students so that you will receive personal attention.
