Are you tired of labouring away for days and feeling frustrated and discontent with the result of all your hard work? Do things not look “quite right” at the end of your painting? 

Rob REK has the answers and the technical know-how to advance your work to the next stage and have your friends wondering how you made this sudden quantum leap in technical ability!

What will I learn?

In this 2-day workshop, Rob will demonstrate the award-winning realistic style of painting he is known for and impart skills to help you take your painting to the next level.

He will help you translate details from your tablet or laptop to the canvas. Discover useful tools like specialist wet-palettes to put an end to the drying issues that arise using acrylics and using a projector for precise, immediate foundation work.

You will work on building up layers and glazing to create depth, different acrylic mediums and effective use of colours to achieve realistic results plus many more tricks of the trade gained from 15+ years of real-life experience as a professional artist.

Who is this workshop suitable for?

This is suitable for beginners to intermediate skill-level artists.

About Rob REK

Rob REK is an established artist based in Brisbane. His popular artworks draw inspiration from the beauty and intricate details found in the natural world, in particular he has become known as a realistic avian specialist.

REK Studied at the Brisbane Institute of Art and his original works are represented by Red Hill Gallery, Brisbane, Blue-Chip Investment Gallery, Mooloolaba and Art to Art Gallery, Melbourne.   He has exhibited consistently in solo and group exhibitions in Brisbane, Melbourne and the Gold Coast since 2008.

His artwork has been commissioned for children’s books, appeared on Chanel 10’s Healthy Homes Australia and has been a finalist in art prizes including The Brisbane Rotary Art Prize, Queensland Figurative, the Art Lovers Australia Art Prize and the Lethbridge 20000.  

He is a member of the Queensland Wildlife Artist’s Society and was the People’s Choice recipient for the Societies' 2019 exhibition.
