Join Master Pastellist, Penelope Gilbert-Ng as she shares with you her secrets for pastel painting, developed over more than 40 years as an artist.
In this weekend workshop, Penelope will teach you how to simplify the complexities of a landscape, using tone and colour for balance and design, and guide you in the process of creating a series of pastel landscapes.
What will I learn?
Through a combination of demonstrations, exercises and individual guidance, you will learn how to:
• simplify shapes within the landscape, setting out the design in thumbnail (notan) drawings
• create mood using complementary colours
• tone white pastel paper with watercolour underpainting and then work pastel over the top
• create a number of small pastel landscapes.
