About this workshop

Finally discover how to use those water-soluble (Aquarelle) colour pencils that you’ve been hanging onto but didn’t know how to utilise! 

Explore different ways of working with these pencils and how to combine them with watercolour paint to get the best results for your chosen subjects. 

After some short exercises and information, students will create coloured pencil paintings with a variety of wet and dry techniques.

ALL MATERIALS SUPPLIED including professional quality aquarelle pencils and watercolour paper.

Who is this workshop suitable for?

All levels are welcome.

What do I need to bring?

Access to  all materials will be provided by Bienarte which includes:

  • Albrecht Durer set of 36 – coloured pencils
  • Prismacolor Colourless Blender
  • Graphite pencil
  • Kneadable eraser
  • Rotary pencil sharpener
  • An A4 sheet of graphite transfer paper
  • Drawing board - smooth
  • Masking tape
  • Soft- bristle brush for brushing away pencil crumbs
  • A4 Arches Hot Pressed watercolour paper
  • Battery operated eraser
  • Reference material – Jan will supply all references needed for this workshop
  • Jan will have some very useful colour wheels and charts books for sale. These are $39.95 each and are specifically for colour pencils

About the tutor

Jan Lawnikanis has been teaching art classes consistently for the past 30 years and tutored about 250 workshops in a variety of media. Students have praised Jan for her teaching skills and preparation which has gained her an excellent reputation with all ages.

Jan has been the featured artist in Australian Artist Magazine, with 5 full-length articles on using coloured pencils. Other publications include the Paradise Magazine-GC Bulletin, Art Newsflash, the International Watercolour Institute catalogue, the Coloured Pencil Magazine, the Australian Coloured Pencil Network, Art Edit magazine and Artwise textbook for the Australian Curriculum. Jan has also published her first eBook about using colour pencils, along with printed books of colour wheels and swatch charts for different brands of colour pencils..

Her award-winning artworks hang in many private and corporate collections.
