Creating Light and Atmosphere in Acrylics | Herman Pekel

Join our world class award contemporary impressionist artist Herman Pekel.

Unearth fresh and honest art inside yourself and learn to capture it with acrylics. You will explore landscapes, seascapes and streetscapes and use a variety of acrylic techniques.

Workshops with Herman are inspiring and very productive. Expect to be challenged, to be brave, and to have fun!

What will I learn?

Herman will guide you through his step by step process - beginning with a fast foundation painting and ending with a range of final approach options that are easy to learn and thought-provoking. Most importantly, Herman will work with you to articulate your own vision and find solutions to your own challenges.
Herman will teach you to find originality in your own work and to get started with new ideas in a way that is fast and fun!

This workshop is suitable for people with basic knowledge of acrylics.

What do I need to bring?

Canvas:
Any Stretched Canvas. Small to Medium 20 x 16

We need to be able to wet the back to give us more time to paint.

Brushes:
Bring your normal acrylic painting brushes, including

• Square brushes (flats)
• Large Synthetic Flats
• Rigger or Dagger or Sword Brush
• Fan, bristle or Hog hair (Cheap. Herman cuts the top off to make it flat)

Acrylic Colours:

• Ultramarine Blue
• Yellow Ocher or Raw Sienna
• Burnt Sienna or Burnt Umber
• Viridian or Phthalo Green
• Alizarin (red)
• Lemon yellow or Cadmium yellow pale
• White

Other Items:

• Rubber Shapers or old credit card.
• Flexible small palette knife.
• Palette (plate or baking paper anything.
• 2 Small water containers.

Bring your lunch and snacks or you can purchase from cafes close by.
