This 2-day workshop is for those who want to loosen up their painting style, paint expressively, explore mark making techniques and working in layers.

What will I learn?

The first day will be a full day of learning about working in layers and making marks that represent the natural world using a variety of tools and drawing media. We will learn about the idea of positive and negative spaces as we build our composition. The second day, participants will concentrate on composing a larger artwork using the teachings from the previous day.

Bronwyn will teach you how to obtain expression and movement in your artwork.

About the Tutor

Bronwyn produces organic paintings that are inspired by the natural sub-tropical bush on the Sunshine Coast where she lives.
Her semi-abstract artworks are a response to the positive and the negative shapes, the textures, lines, shadows and reflections that she seesaround her.

Bronwyn is an intuitive painter who loves the luscious properties of paint and the expressive marks she can make not just with a brush but with whatever is at hand. Her process is one of act-and-respond where experimentation is encouraged.  She paints in layers and uses different methods to reveal the underlying colour which provides a sense of both depth and spontaneity.

Her aim is to create pieces that are striking from a distance but provide the viewer with so much more when they get in close.

What is provided?

  • Tea and coffee (please bring your own cup)
  • A friendly, supportive and encouraging learning environment
  • Connection with the Bienarté art community
