About this class

This Workshop is deigned to take away the mystery of watercolour and to leave you with the confidence and drive to forge ahead with this wonderful medium.
We’ll start from the very beginning. Covering materials, washes, edges, composition and tone.

We’ll complete 2 paintings per day under step-by step guidance to keep you moving along at a comfortable pace.

Above all else is FUN. We’ll have a lot of fun creating art and splashing paint around.

What will I learn?

Day 1: Introduction to materials, Basics of Washes, Brushwork

Demo 1 – Simple landscape, Demo 2 – Simple Abstract Floral

Day 2: Introduction to Composition

Demo 1 – Basic street scene, Demo 2 – Basic Beach scene

Day 3: Introduction to boats, Importance of Tone

Demo 1 – Basic harbour scene, Demo 2 – The Harvester Scene

Who is this workshop suitable for?

This is suitable for absolute beginners and those with some basic experience in Watercolour
h3. What do I need to bring?

Materials List

Brushes

Flat brushes, Round Brushes, Anything you have, really. Must be suitable for Watercolour (no hard bristles etc). Sizes can vary, just don’t bother with small ones. Anything under a size 10, leave at home. We’ll probably only use 3 or brushes in total.

Paper

This is the only think I am really pedantic about. Please bring along Arches or Saunders Waterford ROUGH paper 300GSM. We’ll paint in ¼ sheets or approx. A3 size.

Paint

Brand-wise, I am not fussed. Student Grade is fine. We’ll keep it Simple.

Colours are: Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow, Pyrol (or Cadmium) Red, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Turquoise and titanium White (either WC or Gouache)

THE MOST important thing to bring along is the willingness to have FUN!

Please bring an apron, covered shoes, water bottle and lunch. We have a fridge available at the studio.
