Draw and Paint for Beginners with Sandra Temple

Draw and Paint for Beginners with Sandra Temple

Develop your drawing skills in this accelerated 6 week course with internationally-recognised artist, Sandra Temple.
You will have the opportunity to learn, or re-learn the basics of drawing, using easy and effective principles that Sandra has developed over her 30 plus years as a professional artist. You can then apply those skills in whatever medium captures your interest.

What will I learn?

In weeks 1 to 3 you will be working solely in graphite pencil and depending on your skill level, either starting from the basics, or going back to basics, to develop your drawing skills. Start with easy tonal work and understanding graphite, progressing through 1 point and 2-point perspective, the basic strokes that make up all techniques, simplifying objects into shapes for more accurate drawing, then circles and elipses.
Sandra will share with you many of the hints and tips she has gleaned from her experience and show you how to use tone and shape to produce great pictures with ease.

Sandra will also introduce you to a range of different mediums in week 3 and 4 that you have the opportunity to explore.
In weeks 5 and 6, you will be able to work in your preferred medium and choose your own subjects to work on. Under Sandra’s expert individual tutoring, tailored to meet your needs and your preferred ways of working, you will produce at least one complete work in your chosen medium.

Course testimonials:

  • I liked the informal way Sandra teaches the classes but in the same keeping a very professional standard. It was most probably for the first time that I actually understood perspective correctly. What I enjoyed during this course was to be able to work on the subject and medium that I liked and at the same time being able to try out different and new things. I produced a very lovely pastell piece and might do some more in the future as Sandra showed me a very easy and manageable way to do it. Heidi
