Have you ever wanted to loosen up in your style of painting or wanted to know how to paint in a substractly style?

Learn to paint free form landscape painting with Peter Griffen who will be flying from Sydney to our art school. Peter will take you on a journey of abstraction, colour and energy. There will be particular emphasis on composition, line, strong colour and collage. Participants will be working at their own rate and encouraged to be exploring and creating their own unique works. Self-expression and individuality will be encouraged. In this workshop, you will ‘take a line for a walk’ and enter the world of abstraction.

What will I learn

A wide range of ideas and techniques to get you experimenting with abstraction, including:
• ‘abstract loosening up’ exercises, to help you to begin working in your own individual way
• Free form responses to photographs of the landscape or you can bring sketches
• collaging, including inventing and experimenting with new techniques
• using vivid colour
• engaging your intuition and free thinking
•to use a variety of different approaches from splashes, dripping, scraping and collaging, to create a truly imaginative abstract work.

  • Peter Griffen is an excellent Artist and I Highly Regard him. I enjoy all of his teachings, techniques and humour. I do recommend Peter to my artist friends and mention his skills to all my friends when I show them my paintings I did during his workshops. I will certainly adopt his teachings in my paintings. Very much appreciated, Peter!
  • Thanks so much for such a fab weekend. Peter is definitely one of the very best tutors I have ever met. The vibe was very relaxed, comfortable and stimulating. I learnt so much in this brief period of time. The premises were excellent and I was made to feel welcome and at home. Highly recommend this. Just wish it had been longer than a weekend!
