In this workshop, Jessie will guide you through her step-by-step process to create your own realistic botanical painting of a purple pansy. It’s suitable for beginners - no experience required.
What will I learn?
You will gain an understanding in:
- An easy way to transfer a simple outline drawing to watercolour paper
- Basic colour theory
- Matching and mixing the correct colour
- Watercolour techniques including wet-in-wet, blending and dry brush and when to use them
- How to avoid muddy watercolour paintings
- An appreciation for the minutiae of nature!

About the artist
Jessie is a professional botanical watercolour artist from Melbourne, who has been teaching in Brisbane for the past month. Her techniques in watercolour painting and grey-lead drawing lend her botanical subjects an impressive level of realism, while her very personable and relaxed nature ensure her students both learn and have fun!
