Colour Relationship and Creativity | Merv Moriarty

Colour Relationship and Creativity | Merv Moriarty

Colour is integral to our work as: artists and designers. How do we understand colour and create more beautiful colour combinations?
The Moriarty Colour Wheel is the first mathematically correct printed Colour Wheel covering CMY and RGB. Take control of your use of colour, using this great tool, and learn from the creator himself – Merv Moriarty.

What will I learn?

Learn to apply the principles of colour to your colour matching and colour mixing, colour selection and understanding of colour relationship using this modern colour wheel and mixing pathways. These same pathways can help you to better understand colour relationship. Analyze colour in nature, and in the work of the great colourists and apply what you discover to your own creative use of colour.

• The link between colour mixing and colour relationship
• Colour relationship – a random (or meaningless) combination of colours is seldom pleasing. The artistic eye seeks harmony in a design (or composition of colours)
• Your personal colour choice – how it influences the colours you use
• Colours of Nature – Seek the perfect balance between seeing everything that is there and selecting only what you want to use. We will use studies of natural plants in an abstract format to learn about colour relationship.
• Colour and Emotion – Creating an Emotional Response
• Creating luminosity – Using: under-painting, glazing, broken colour, i.e., optical blending
• Comparing Personal Choice and Colours of Nature studies
• Beyond the personal to the universal – What can we learn from nature and the great colourists?

All exercises are in a simple abstract format.
