About this workshop

Learn the skills to progress a fine drawing into a beautiful painting. Find out some of the master’s tricks. A concentrated workshop where you will be able to take away tried techniques to grow your own skills.

Louise will demonstrate drawing and painting techniques and give guidance for drawing, composition, transfer, watercolour colour mixing, backgrounds, dry brush and glazing techniques. Advancing your drawing to a full watercolour study creating lifelike botanical forms with tonal variation and shading that help make your painting pop.

First Day: Work on your road map! Your composition using an assortment of live specimens, photographs and drawings. Work on a simple specimen or a more complex arrangement using other plants such as ferns or allied plants. Transfer your drawing to watercolour paper.
Second Day: Begin the painting process, create colour mixing swatches, learn painting techniques and short-cuts to enhance and strengthen your use of colour.
Third Day: Continue to create form, add life to your work by enhancing colour and tonal values. Be heartened, watercolours really are easy and enjoyable – finish your painting!

Who is this workshop suitable for?

Suitable for beginners or people with some experience.
All levels are welcome!

What do I need to bring?

• Bring your lunch and snacks or you can purchase from cafes close by. We do have a fridge and microwave at the studio for your convenience. Don’t forget your apron!
