About this workshop

Part 2 of the Drawing Fundamentals and More course takes your basic drawing skills to the next level by applying the concepts of line, shape, form, space, value and texture to achieve fully developed drawings.

• Learn about the triangular grid method to aid with placing key points in your under-drawing.
• Explore and observe the true nature of your subject including reflections, shadows and transparency.
• Learn charcoal and graphite drawing techniques you can add to your artistic repertoire and apply to your personal style.

Developing your drawing technique will also improve the quality of your paintings. Isabella will discuss the various materials, drawing mediums and types of paper used.

What will I learn?

The course will build on the fundamentals of drawing (line, shape, form, space, etc.) and apply these techniques to complete two fully rendered drawings over the 4 classes.

• Graphite drawing: Measuring techniques; developing a tonal range; refining edges; mark-making skills; and capturing textures.
• Charcoal drawing: Proportion; symmetry; ellipses; contrast; transparency and understanding the sequence of applying the different types of charcoal, mark-making, blending techniques and use of the kneaded eraser to create a realistic representation of your subject.

Who is this course suitable for?

This course would suit those who have some basic experience with drawing or have completed Part 1 of the Drawing Fundamentals and More Course, as well as intermediate artists wanting to solidify their drawing technique.

Access to all art materials will be provided.
