Classical Figure Drawing & Painting - 5 Days | Andrew Bonneau

5 Day Classical Figure Drawing & Painting

About this class

In this workshop students will spend 5 days developing a single painting of the nude model from life. This is a unique opportunity to spend an extended period carefully looking at and understanding the structural complexity of the human body in relation to a light source. The emphasis will be on the accurate observation of the model as well as the integration of ideas such as symmetry, gesture and grace.
We will be working from the life model for the entire workshop.

What will I learn?

Beginning with drawing and an emphasis on proportion and gesture, we will develop our drawings to a refined level and then transfer them to canvas to begin painting. We will then begin painting in colour and thinking about all aspects related to the human figure. These will all be discussed and demonstrated, including proportion, anatomy, perspective, conceptualising the model in relation to the light source, modelling form, colour theory and paint handling.
Approximately 2 days will be spent drawing and 3 days painting.

Who is this workshop suitable for?

Basic knowledge and skills in drawing and painting will be helpful for this workshop. The more experience you have in painting and drawing from life the better, but the workshop is suitable for all levels.
